Diane Scott, Newlands Park, Glasgow

Newlands is my favourite local park in the southside of Glasgow. The park is over 100 years old and has lots of beautiful mature trees and benches with names of local residents who have loved the park over the years.

It became a very important spot for me during the pandemic and it was the perfect place to meet outdoors with friends and family during those tough times. The park has a lovely café and is a favourite place for local dog walkers so it always has a buzz of activity.

The park also has a lot of community involvement and a ‘Friends of Newlands Park’ group who fundraise and volunteer to maintain the flowers, trees and pond (which is a designated Site of Importance for Nature Conservation).
