This section describes the projects the greenspace scotland staff team are currently working on. We are delivering a suite of projects through two interlinked and overarching programmes: demonstrating success and supporting delivery.
The quick summary (for full details follow the menu tabs)
community growing
We published the report ‘Community Growing in Scotland – Towards a Framework for Action’. This report is the starting point for future work looking at a ‘bigger picture’ approach to community growing which explores all the different land and growing options that could be available to communities.
greenspace and climate change
Our scoping research looks at how greenspace can contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation. This research will lead to the development of clearer examples of how ‘climate change greenspaces’ function – including work on how we can incorporate elements of climate change greenspace into town centres, residential streets and urban parks.
greenspace SROI
greenspace scotland has been working with ten community groups on a two-year ‘greenspace is good – so prove it!’ SROI programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund research programme. We’ve published 14 SROI analyses of a range of activities in greenspace. We are working on a programme of generic SROI analyses of specific greenspace types and activities in greenspace, as well as offering consultancy services and training in SROI.
greenspace standards
We’ve been working with three Scottish local authorities (Fife, North Ayrshire and West Dunbartonshire) to support the development of frameworks for establishing open space standards in line with the requirements of Scottish Planning Policy. This project has developed from our national mapping work, greenspace quality guide and work with local authorities on open space audits and strategies.
mapping scotland's greenspace
greenspace scotland and partners have created the world’s first national map of urban greenspace. View the interactive map and, if you have an appropriate Ordnance Survey licence, access the data.
