Glasgow National Park City Group brings together people interested in creating a Glasgow National Park City. We aim to improve people’s quality of life and the environment through the creation of Glasgow National Park City. This initial crowd funder campaign will allow us to kick-start the campaign by allowing us to develop our web presence, support events and produce materials to spread the word.

Glasgow National Park City Group aims to:

  • coordinate and promote action to establish a Glasgow National Park City.
  • - connect, amplify and support the work of any individuals and groups who help to achieve this aim.
  • - work with other organisations to secure their long term commitment to establishing a Glasgow National Park City.
  • The Glasgow National Park City Group brings together people interested in applying the benefits of traditional National Parks to urban areas in order to:

Glasgow faces ongoing challenges linked to health inequality, but there is huge potential to address this by bringing together people and places. The Group believes that a Glasgow National Park City can help make Glasgow environmentally and culturally richer, a place where people are more connected to nature and to each other, and are healthier and happier as a result.

While there’s no official definition of a National Park City, and no National Park Cities in the world (yet!), active campaign are underway in a number of cities. The Glasgow National Park City Group will join this international movement by:

  • coordinating and promoting action to establish a Glasgow National Park City
  • connecting, amplifying and supporting the work of any individuals and groups who help to achieve this aim
  • working with other organisations to secure their long term commitment to establishing a Glasgow National Park City.

The group is open to anyone to join, and hopes that the people of Glasgow will get behind the campaign to promote the creation of Glasgow National Park City. Over the next few months they aim to bring people and groups together to share information and ideas, and develop projects that demonstrate what a National Park City can offer to Glasgow’s people and places. If you are interested in getting involved please contact Glasgow National Park City Group at [email protected]

The Group has also launched a MyParkScotland crowdfund to allow it to organise events and take the message to different communities, promote the work of grassroots organisations and create connections between them, develop National Park City demonstration projects, and build a strong on-line presence to act as the hub for the campaign.
