Bags of Help contributed £10,000 to help create Murton's Marvellous Nature Trail at Murton Trust Nature Reserve.

Murton Trust manages a thriving nature reserve, visitor farm and tea room, on the outskirts of Forfar. The 80 acre nature reserve is situated on a former sand and gravel quarry and now flourishes with diverse habitats; lochs, wetlands, woods, wild flower meadows, and nesting sites for sand martins. Murton Trust is also a Scottish Qualification Authority accredited training centre and provides vocational qualifications and work experience for young people in hospitality and land-based skills as well as opportunities for volunteers.

"Our project was to improve the path network, install information points, seating, shelters, add installations and make our nature reserve more accessible, fun and informative for all. From the stunning large oak totem poles depicting the flora and fauna of our site to simple new seating our project has been beneficial to not only our visitors but to the many volunteers who offered their time and learned new skills making this project happen."

Murton's Marvellous Nature Trail can be visited any time. It meanders through the reserve and includes information points, seating, shelters, and two wonderful totem poles carved by Jonny Chainsaw. The new shelters and seats ensure that visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk around the 80 acres in all weathers and all seasons. Improvements to the path network, new wax rubbing stations, children's information points, a whole site map, bug hotels, wooden sculptures and willow structures all add to the fun and learning experience for everyone.
