ParkPower Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Case Study Earlier this year ParkPower’s project manager spent a day on-site at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. This resulted in a case study which has just been published exploring the model employed by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to implement a park-wide district heating solution across a large area of vacant and derelict land in Stratford. The network has been operating since 2012 through a commercial contract with Engie for its design, build and operation. Two energy centres within the park host biomass boilers, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems and back-up gas boilers to meet the heat demands of a wide range of public and private customers within the park’s concession zone. The network continues to be expanded, often by routing pipes through urban greenspaces, beyond this zone to meet the needs of other high demand customers.
