The Friends of Craigtoun are about to sign a lease with Fife Council to run Craigtoun Park for the next 25 years.

The Friends of Craigtoun (a group of enthusiastic local volunteers) was formed in 2012 to take over the running of all facilities in Craigtoun Country Park in order to secure its future. The Friends were determined that the amenity of the park for the people of St Andrews, Fife and visitors to the area would not be lost. Indeed, the Friends have made such considerable investments and improvements in its management that it is now a ‘Destination Park’ with visitors from all over UK.

The Friends have overseen the complete refurbishment of the Rio Grande miniature railway, the installation of a free to use Trim Trail with zip wires and a dog-friendly outdoor café area. There are many and varied sell-out events throughout the year and our visitors rate the park experience highly. The pathway leading from the car park to the Cafe and Ticket Office has been tarmacked, making the park more accessible for wheelchair users.

It won’t be a surprise to learn that this all comes at a cost so in order to keep the prices for families’ visits down, the Friends are running a crowdfunding campaign, initially to purchase two much-needed bouncy castles.

If you would like to help with a donation then please go to the Castles for Craigtoun crowdfund page on MyParkScotland and follow the instructions.
