Better Outside - On the Roof – St Modan’s High School

When St Modan’s High School was rebuilt, a rooftop garden was built into the original design with a greenhouse, pond, raised beds, water, electricity, a safe perimeter and lovely views. Read more

Better Outside - Balerno Red Phone Box project

By chance the adoption of the Harlaw Road Red Phone Box by Balerno Village Trust (BVT) coincided with Covid-19 and the box became a community service point during the lockdown. It was used to promote local walks and to swap and share small items. Read more

Better Outside - FEAT Grow Your Mind

Fife Employment Accessibility Trust (FEAT) have adapted their long running “Employ Your Mind” to run fully outdoors in 2021 with the launch of the Grow Your Mind project. With funding from Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, they will run a total of 4 groups over an 18-month period. Read more

Better outside - Let’s Keep Growing with Bannockburn House Trust

Bannockburn House Trust set up in 2016 with the aim of purchasing the house and grounds for the local community. In 2017 the Trust completed Community Buy Out. When the Covid-19 crisis hit, BHT had to reduce volunteer numbers to follow the guidelines from the Scottish Government. Read more

What is greenspace?

Greenspaces are the 'green lungs' of our towns and cities which contribute to improving people's physical and mental health by providing places for informal recreation and 'breathing spaces' to take time out from the stresses of modern life.
Other funding sources
