We’re looking for help from people and organisations to develop local food growing across Glasgow.

The Glasgow Food Growing Strategy is scheduled to be delivered by 2020. With Glasgow City Council, we will be hosting 8 workshops across 19 wards in Glasgow between February and May 2019 to get an understanding of current food growing, to generate interest in food growing and to identify potential growing sites.

Three of the 8 workshops will highlight a specific theme in relation to community food growing, as well as covering local issues – the themes are social enterprise, outdoor learning and health.

greenspace scotland is working with Glasgow City Council to support the development of a Food Growing Strategy for the city. All Scottish Local Authorities are required to develop a Local Food Growing Strategy as part of the implementation of Community Empowerment Act (2015).

Events are free to attend, you’ll be welcomed with a tasty bowl of soup, bread and tea/coffee will be on offer but to help us plan and organise catering we are asking people to sign up on eventbrite. Please click on the ward area workshop you would like to attend in the list below to register.

In Glasgow, the Council and partners will build a strategy based on city-wide commitments informed by local workshops and delivered through local action plans. This will draw on feedback from previous consultations held in Southside Central/Pollokshields and Partick East/Victoria Park. More info and a report is available here.
