Emma Halliday, Hayburn Park, Glasgow

This local park is very special to me, my kids, friends and neighbours. It’s a warm, supportive community with Hayburn Park at its heart. In an area where most people live in tenement flats, and gardens are often small, our shared greenspace of Hayburn Park is really central.

I became a member of Hayburn Playpark Association many years ago when my son was about four. Along with a group of other residents and parents we deliver park improvements, raise funding, maintain natural features in the park, run events for families such as outdoor film screenings, big lunches, fetes and seasonal activities at Easter, Christmas and Halloween.
