Working together we can have a powerful impact on the places that matter most.

WHY NOW?

We have been enjoying our parks in Scotland for generations, in fact since the 15th century when Glasgow Green, Scotland’s first park, was created.

A growing body of evidence tells us that these places are key, not only for our mental and physical health, but for building communities, maintaining biodiversity, tackling pollution….

Parks and greenspace have traditionally been cared for by local authorities, but council budgets are under increasing pressure. Local councils can mow the lawn, but as greenspace this is not statutory; they just don’t have the resources to provide for the kind of greenspace we need and want.

As a nation, we must ensure that Scotland’s Green Spaces deliver today for individuals, communities and the environment AND are stewarded reliably for the future.

Parks4Life is Scotland’s first ever fund for the nation’s parks. Its goal is to raise £1 million.

We have been fortunate to receive a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund which will match donations from individuals, businesses and trusts over the next year (let’s keep to a tight deadline) to raise that first million pounds.

Parks4Life long term goal is a multi-million fund which will keep Scotland’s parks in good heart for future generations to enjoy.
