Grounding the Heat Pump Market in Scotland - Scotland’s Opportunity for Ground Source Heat Pumps

The heat pump market is set to boom in Scotland.

Having already largely decarbonised electricity, Scotland is now pursuing the decarbonisation of heat as a national priority. With the lowest rate of decarbonised heat of any country in Europe, twinned with the toughest statutory ambition in the world, we need to rapidly scale up the expansion of low carbon heat capacity. Heat pumps will be an important fit with Scotland’s low carbon electrical grid to rapidly scale up the expansion of low carbon heat capacity and energy efficiency improvements in order to meet its ambition to become a net zero society by 2045.

greenspace scotland proposes ground-source heat pumps in urban parks could save vast amounts of carbon by replacing fossil-fuel heating systems. Park Power is a Scotland-wide programme to explore the contribution that parks and greenspaces can make to the Scottish Government’s ambitions to decarbonise the energy system.

The Kensa Group is the UK’s specialist delivery partner for Fifth Generation District Heating networks featuring Ground Source Heat Pumps and Shared Ground Loop Arrays. Matthew Black will be talking about how shared ground loop arrays work, the benefits and the application to social and private housing in Scotland. John Maslen will highlight the pilot project Saughton Public Park in Edinburgh and opportunities for green space heat networks with ground source heat pumps.

Join Scottish Enterprise for its Zero Carbon Heating – Scotland’s Opportunity for Shared Ground Source Heat Pump webinar on 16th September at 2:00 (GMT) to discover the opportunities for ground source heat pumps in Scotland.
