A new urban park, driven by Glasgow's urban sports community, is planned for a currently unused space underneath the M74 motorway. The Devon Street Urban Park project is the brainchild of skateboarder Neil Davidson, who, in 2012, saw the potential to repurpose the area. The park will cover approximately 8,000 square metres and will include public art, green space, and urban sports facilities.

The park's design is being led by Scottish artist/skateboarders Toby Paterson and Raydale Dower, along with BMX rider and professional ramp builder John Bailey. The team behind the project has a history of creating successful urban sports spaces in Glasgow, including the Loading Bay skatepark in Port Dundas and a new skate spot at the Riverside Museum.

The Devon Street Urban Park aims to be a new type of public space, designed to be inclusive and to celebrate the city's built environment. The project has already received significant investment from the Susanne Marcus Collins Foundation, a US-based foundation, which has pledged £1.2m to support the park's construction. The project team is now seeking further public and private funding to match this donation. The park is set to become a thriving cultural landmark on the Southside of Glasgow.
