Regulations have been laid in the Scottish Parliament to support the preparation of play sufficiency assessments in Scotland:

The Town and Country Planning (Play Sufficiency Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2023

The regulations are subject to Parliamentary scrutiny and are due to come into force on 19 May 2023. They set out the provisions relating to the new duty which requires planning authorities to assess the sufficiency of play opportunities for children in their areas in preparing an evidence report. The play sufficiency assessment will inform the preparation of local development plans under the new development plan system. Guidance will be published by the Scottish Government to support the regulations.
