We at greenspace scotland have always talked about greenspace providing out natural health service, new research shows the importance of wooded areas to wellbeing saving the UK an estimated £185m per year in mental health costs.

The report by Forest Research is the first to estimate the amount that woodlands save the NHS through fewer GP visits and prescriptions, reduced hospital and social service care, and the costs of lost days of work.

This new research is the first of its kind to value the mental health benefits associated with the UK’s woodlands.
