The Butterfly Garden Clackmannan celebrates its first year

14th July saw the Clackmannan Community Garden Committee organise an Open Day at The Butterfly Garden to celebrate its first year and the Community Impact Award which was presented to the group at the Volunteer Awards Ceremony held by Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface on 1 June.

The garden has been named the Butterfly Community Garden -  It was proposed by Daisy in a competition at the Primary School and voted the winning suggestion by residents.

The group is calling on everyone to lend a hand to improve their environment and get involved in this project which is still developing. The activity is part of the Volunteering Matters Action Earth campaign with grant funding provided by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH).

Margaret Schofield chairperson of the garden committee said: “Everybody can get involved in their local outdoor spaces. They are a shared resource and a shared responsibility.  From the smallest individual action to a national campaign, every contribution helps. The Butterfly Garden group has recently been awarded funds from Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme, as well as holding a fundraising bag pack, and we would like to thank everyone for their generosity “
