Include Me 2 Club (IM2C) runs a youth group that supports children and young people with additional support needs. Two young people from IM2C, with their youth worker, attended the first Young Placechangers residential training weekend.

They then received Seedcorn funding to hold an open day at the Dalmeny Community Centre, Barrhead. The young people felt it was important that they were seen as part of the wider community and that other groups in the community could work together to enhance not only the space at the centre but the areas of greenspace around it. The young people held an open day with a BBQ and lots of fun family activities to bring people together.

Young people became the creative consultants using mapping exercises to gather views from the community. They had over 200 people attend the fun day.

greenspace scotland engages and empowers young people through the Young Placechangers programme.

Young Placechangers puts young people in the lead role – bringing together the wider community to look at local spaces and plan improvements. The Young Placechangers programme has used a co-production approach to develop and pilot a training and support programme enabling young people to transform both the place they live, their relationship to it and the wider community.
