Greenspace is our natural health service

Green and blue spaces are fundamental infrastructure for our physical and mental wellbeing.[i] The physical and mental health benefits that come from engaging in natural environments is well recognised.  With 85% of people agreeing that local greenspaces benefit their health and wellbeing.[ii]

The role that nature and urban green and blue space plays in our health and wellbeing is increasingly recognised across policy and practice. There is a wealth of evidence and case studies demonstrating the positive impact of green and blue space on health.

greenspace scotland works to ensure that more people access greenspace more often for health and wellbeing. We collaborate nationally and locally with Local Authorities, the NHS, Scottish Government, and with communities, charities, and NGOs, to achieve urban greenspaces of benefit to people's wellbeing.

Find out more about the work we do nationally and locally below.
